Stake Cricket Betting: Tests, ODIs & T20 Explained
Cricket has a bigger following in Canada than many people realise — and with matches from India, England and Australia landing at odd hours, it's a sport made for betting while the rest of the country sleeps. Here's how cricket works on the Stake sportsbook.

Cricket has deep Canadian roots. Canada v USA is widely recognised as the first international cricket match, played in 1844 — and the two sides still meet in T20 internationals today.

Three formats, three ways to bet
The format changes almost everything — scoring rates, how often draws happen and which markets are worth a look.
Test cricket
The longest form. Draws are a real outcome, so match markets have three results. Session runs and innings leads give patient bettors plenty to work with.
One Day Internationals
A full day's game with room for strategy. Totals lines often land in the 270–330 range depending on the pitch.
T20 & franchise leagues
About three hours of big hitting. Momentum swings fast, which makes T20 the most popular format for live betting.

Reading a live cricket market
Cricket is a stop-start sport, which makes it ideal for in-play betting. After every delivery the sportsbook reassesses the required run rate, wickets in hand and the batters at the crease.
- Wickets matter more than runs. A chasing team on 140/2 is in a very different spot from 140/6, even at the same score.
- Watch the powerplay. In T20, the first six overs set the tone for totals markets.
- Mind the pitch and weather. Dew, spin-friendly surfaces and rain interruptions all move lines.

Cricket betting tips for Canadians
Follow the toss
On some grounds batting first or chasing makes a measurable difference; the toss result can move match odds before a ball is bowled.
Check team news
Line-ups are confirmed at the toss. A missing star batter changes top-batter and totals markets immediately.
Know the venue
Average first-innings scores differ widely between grounds. Use them as a baseline before backing an over or under.
Respect the draw
In Tests, rain and flat pitches make draws common — don't ignore the third outcome.
